How many batteries a golf cart takes and at what voltage, what a replacement set costs in Thailand, why the second-hand cart you just bought dies halfway round the resort, how to pick the right set without knowing anything about batteries, and how to make it last through five tropical summers. Written for owners, resort engineers and course workshops in Thailand, with real prices.
How many batteries, and what voltage
Almost every electric golf cart and resort buggy in Thailand is a 48 V system; some older carts are 36 V. The voltage comes from several batteries in series under the seat, so “how many” depends on the volts per battery: six 8 V (most Club Car Precedent and Onward, Yamaha Drive2, EZ-GO TXT 48 V), eight 6 V (utility and people-mover carts such as Carryall, Villager and Transporter), six 6 V (36 V carts) or four 12 V (Tempo, some Onward and Precedent, EZ-GO RXV). Lift the seat, count the batteries, then count the filler caps on each: three caps is 6 V, four is 8 V, six is 12 V. If in doubt, send a photo of the tray on LINE or WhatsApp and we will tell you the set in minutes.

| Fullriver EGL AGM | Volts / capacity | Fits | Price each |
|---|---|---|---|
| EGL200-6 | 6 V 200 Ah | 36 V and 48 V carts on 6 V batteries | about ฿13,800 |
| EGL220-6 | 6 V 220 Ah | Eight-battery 48 V and six-battery 36 V carts (more range) | about ฿15,900 |
| EGL170-8 | 8 V 170 Ah | Six-battery 48 V carts | about ฿16,900 |
| EGL100-12 | 12 V 100 Ah | Four-battery 48 V carts | about ฿15,500 |
A complete set is cheaper than the sum of the batteries: the Club Car, EZ-GO and Yamaha packs take 10 % off when you pick your cart model from the list. Four 12 V about ฿55,900 · six 6 V (36 V) about ฿85,700 · six 8 V about ฿91,300 · eight 6 V about ฿114,200. Every battery is tested before dispatch and the set ships with fitting notes and the charger setting; delivery is free in Trang, Krabi and Phuket and by courier anywhere in Thailand. Resorts, courses and estates with several carts can ask for fleet pricing.
Flooded or AGM: the five-year arithmetic
The flooded batteries a cart leaves the factory with are cheaper per battery, and that is where their advantage ends in the tropics. They need distilled water every two to four weeks, one missed round in a hot shed damages the plates, the acid mist corrodes terminals and tray, and a resort set typically lasts two to three years. Fullriver EGL is a sealed AGM built for daily deep cycling: nothing to top up, no acid, mounts in any orientation, accepts charge at up to 0.35C so it is back to full sooner, and in the same duty it lasts roughly twice as long. Over five years, once the watering labour, the corroded terminals and the cart that dies in high season are counted, the AGM set is usually the cheaper one.
Won’t charge, won’t last the round: what to check first
“The cart won’t take a charge” nearly always comes down to one of three things. One battery in the set has failed: charge fully, rest for an hour and measure each battery; the one reading clearly low (a 6 V at 5.0 while its neighbours read 6.3) is the culprit, and the whole set should be replaced together, because one new battery is always dragged down by the old ones. The charger refuses to start: most automatic chargers will not begin if the pack voltage has fallen too far (a cart left flat for weeks), so each battery has to be brought up individually first. Or the inter-battery cables and terminals are loose or corroded, which drops voltage and makes heat; clean and torque every connection whenever a set is changed.
Buying a second-hand cart: check the batteries before you pay
Second-hand carts in Thailand are usually sold on their original set, three to five years old, which means a new set at ฿55,000–115,000 belongs in the price you are negotiating. Read the date code or sticker on the batteries, look at the water level and the acid staining in the tray, ask for a full charge and then drive it for twenty to thirty minutes including a slope. If it fades early, negotiate the set off the price, or send us a photo of the tray and we will tell you what you are looking at, free.
Set the charger for AGM
An EGL set runs on the cart’s existing charger. If the charger has an AGM or “sealed” mode, select it; if it is programmable, use the Fullriver figures we send with every set. AGM absorption and float voltages are lower than flooded settings, and leaving a charger on the flooded profile is the single most common reason an AGM set lives a short life. Thai heat calls for temperature compensation, which most modern cart chargers already have. Send us the charger model before you order and we check it for you.
Lithium, honestly
Lithium conversions are the fastest-growing search in this category and they can be excellent, but a conversion is a project, not a battery swap: a 48 V lithium pack needs its own charger profile, a BMS matched to the cart’s controller current, usually a new charger, and a cart whose electronics tolerate the different voltage curve. For a fleet that wants drop-in replacement today, on the existing chargers, with no new wiring and no retraining of the workshop, sealed AGM is the straightforward choice, and that is why it is what we stock as sets. Ask us if you are weighing a conversion; we will tell you plainly whether your carts and chargers suit it.
How to order, where we deliver
