About this product
Bringing shore power, an inverter or a generator into a boat or vehicle needs the same protection you would expect at home — a residual current device to protect people, and circuit breakers to protect each circuit. Merlin's consumer units arrive pre-wired in a compact enclosure, ready for the incoming supply and the outgoing circuits: ring main, water heater, battery charger, refrigeration, air-conditioning.
The basic units pair a 30 mA RCD with two or four single-pole MCBs. The inverter/shore consumer unit and Combi consumer unit are laid out for installations with an inverter alongside shore power. For larger systems the Combi inverter-charger & generator unit routes shore and generator power through separate RCDs into an automatic changeover with an adjustable timer, so the generator can warm up before load is applied.
